Each block of ice has an animal frozen in the middle, and your job is to chip it free without hurting it. The pick is slow but safe. The hammer and TNT clear ice much faster, but reach the thin frosty layer touching the animal and you lose a heart, and every lost heart shrinks the reward. Freed animals move into your zoo and earn coins while you play, which pay for stronger picks, better tools and colder places to dig: Snowfield, Glacier Bay, Ice Age Valley and the Dino Deep Freeze, with a very rare visitor hiding somewhere in the ice.

Every block of ice in this game has an animal frozen inside it. You chip it out, and it goes to live in your zoo.
Thick ice and thin ice
Most of a block is thick ice, and you can hit it with anything. The layer right against the animal is thin, frosty ice, and that is where the risk is.
The pick only ever chips what you aim at, so it is always safe. The hammer and TNT clear much more at once, but if their blast reaches the thin layer you lose a heart. You keep more of the reward the more hearts you have left when the animal comes free.
Four tools
The pick is where you start. The hammer hits a whole cluster of chunks, the torch melts ice while you hold it and never hurts the animal, and TNT clears a big area with a cooldown between blasts. Tool power comes from your pick tier, from stone up to plasma, so each upgrade speeds up every tool at once.
The zoo
Every animal you free moves into the pen behind the dig site and earns coins over time, even while you are away. There are four zones, Snowfield, Glacier Bay, Ice Age Valley and the Dino Deep Freeze, each with rarer animals than the last. Golden animals turn up now and then, and so, very occasionally, does something nobody expects to find in the ice.
How to play
- Tap or click the ice to chip it with the selected tool.
- Pick a tool from the bar at the bottom. Hold to melt with the torch.
- Open the SHOP to buy tools and upgrades, and the ZOO to see who you have rescued.
