Make a browser game with AI and publish it on KaoGames
You don't need to be a programmer. A step-by-step guide to turning a game idea into a finished HTML5 game with an AI assistant, and getting it live.
You don’t need to know how to code to make a browser game anymore. An AI assistant like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can build one with you, and KaoGames can host it, put it in front of players and pay you from the creator fund. Here’s how.
1. Start with one small idea
The best first games do one thing well. “Stack blocks as high as you can before they topple” beats “an open-world RPG”. Think of something that’s fun for a minute: you can always grow it later.
2. Use the “Make a new game with me” prompt
On the developers page, copy the Make a new game with me prompt and paste it into your assistant. It’s written so the AI:
- asks you about your game first (what it’s about, the controls, how you win, the look)
- sums up the design for you to approve before writing any code
- builds it in plain HTML5, with graphics drawn in code and sound made in the browser, so there are no asset licenses to worry about
- makes it work with mouse, keyboard and touch, on desktop and phones
- builds in the Kao SDK, so your loading bar works and players’ progress is saved to their account
3. Play it, then ask for changes
Open the game on your computer and play it. Then tell the AI exactly what feels off: “the jump is too floaty”, “make the enemies slower at the start”. Small rounds of changes are how good games get made.
4. Make it great on phones
Most players are on a phone, and on a phone KaoGames shows games built to be played upright, full screen. If your game isn’t already vertical, use the Make it playable on phones prompt.
5. Make a thumbnail
Your thumbnail is the first thing players judge. The Make a cool thumbnail prompt has your AI build one from your game’s own art. Keep the important part in the middle, since we crop thumbnails a few different ways.
6. Check it and upload
Run the Check my game before I upload prompt for a pass/fail list, then zip the game with index.html at the top and upload it in Your games. Automatic checks run in seconds, and KaoGames reviews every game before it goes live.
7. Share your launch
Once it’s approved, Your games gives you a share link and a launch card made from your game’s art. Every player who comes in through your link counts toward your plays and your share of the creator fund, and tag @kaogames1 on X so we can repost it.
